Choosing a size
Most of our chiming baoding balls are offered in multiple sizes (often with a bamboo stand). Use this as a starting point, then check the product page for exact approximate diameter and pair weight.
General ranges
Sizing names vary slightly by product line, but many classic and cloisonné pairs follow a pattern like:
- Small — roughly ~1.4" — lighter; good for smaller hands or beginners.
- Medium — roughly ~1.6" — the most common “all around” choice.
- Large — roughly ~2" — more mass and presence; better for larger hands or experience.
Always read the product’s Approximate Size and Weight of Pair attributes when listed — they are more reliable than the name alone.
Chiming vs solid
Chiming balls are hollow with an internal chime. Solid balls are heavier for the same diameter and do not chime. If you are switching from chiming to solid (or the reverse), you may prefer a different size than you use today.

Medium is a safe default for many adults shopping their first quality pair. If you already own balls, match diameter first, then consider whether you want more or less weight.
